Abstract

This study was performed in order to recognize the identifications of the glycoconjugates and CD44 in the developing root dentin and periodontium of the rat. The experimental rats was used at around 2nd week after birth.
The maxilla obtained from the area before eruption of maxillary first molar were fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin. After making serial paraffin section at 6§, the specimens was incubated with 9 species of lectins(Con-A, RCA-I, LCA, WGA,
PNA,
BSL-I, SBA, SJA and UEA-I) and CD44 antibody.
In order to increase the specificity of the reactions, the sections were applicated with ABC system. and then the sections were incupated DAB and were counterstained with hematoxylin.
@ES The results obtained were as follows.
@EN 1. The developing periodontal ligament was stained with Con-A, RCA, LCA, WGA, PNA, SBA and CD44.
2. The cementoblast forming cementum was stained with Con-A, RCA, LCA, WGA and CD44.
3. The osteocyte of developing alveolar bone was stained with Con-A, RCA, WGA and CD44.
4. The osteoblast of developing alveolar bone was stained with Con-A, RCA and WGA.
5. Root predentin(dentin matrix) was stained with Con-A, RCA, LCA and BSL-I.
6. Root dentin was stained with BSL-I and SJA.
7. Root odontoblast was stained with Con-A, RCA, LCA, WGA and BSL-I.
